If your future golfer wants to learn how to play the game of golf, there is no better place than at one of our junior golf programs offered throughout the season. Our programs aim to offer opportunities to engage in critical thinking and physical activity, socialize with peers, and, most of all, improve golf skills and establish solid fundamentals. With help from the Steve Funk Junior Golf Fund and fundraisers like the Funky Monkey Golf Event, many of our junior programs will cost the participant less out of pocket.
Clinics
All clinics will meet at 1:45 pm at the practice tee, lasting approximately 1 hour. The clinic will run from 2-3 p.m. The clinic will cost $20 per session with 50% off at registration. Camps
Under the direction of the Pekin Park District Golf Staff the Junior Golf Camp will feature instruction on full swing, short game, putting, rules and etiquette at Lick Creek G.C. Program will also include tee gift and snacks.
Each program level below is designed to suit the golfer at different levels. If you have a young golfer who is experienced and would benefit from more in-depth instruction, please feel free to register them at the appropriate level. Sessions can be altered after the program has begun if need be.
Each lesson will consist of a different learning area or focus. We will use developmental strategies that are designed to teach basic golf fundamentals of the game, as well as create an understanding and passion for the game of golf. Training aids may be used to enhance or demonstrate the learning process.
Little Dragons *Ages 5-8*
4:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m.
$80 per session (50% off at registration)
June 17-21 | Monday thru Friday
Focus: (No prior experience) Safety, Basic Rules, Etiquette, Stance, Grip, putting, and Chipping. At the beginner level, instruction will occur at the putting green and driving range. Parents are encouraged to stay if possible.
Big Dragons *Ages 9-12*
4:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m.
$80per session (50% off at registration)
June 3-7 | Monday thru Friday
June 10-14 | Monday thru Friday
Focus: (Some experience/experienced player) Rules, Etiquette, Stance, Grip, Swing Path, Course Management, Chipping, Putting, Ball striking. At this level we will do work on the practice green, driving range, as well as course play. This is also a starting point for those who wish to play high school golf.
Pekin City Junior Golf Tournament
Our city-wide Co-Rec golf tournament is open to all genders and ages 18 and under. Save the date. More details are coming soon! Little & Big Dragons Camp participants can register for free with a coupon code provided during camp.
